We are who we are because of events that preceded us. These paintings are of people and/or places that changed the course of history.

In this series, Polk worked with images appropriated from other sources and photographers - some anonymous, others long deceased. Doing so was an opportunity to collaborate with and to pay homage to 'artists' otherwise not widely recognized. Credit is given, when possible.
