Lenny Briscoe, played by Jerry Orbach, was the senior detective on the TV Series Law and Order. An understated, intensely rich character. He was a recovering alcoholic, a man who had seen it all and who seemed surprised by nothing. His was a joyless life that was distinguished by a wry, cynical sense of humor. Good job, Jerry.
