Focus on Tragedy

Focusing on tragedy has often been a preoccupation of my art. Currently, I am most interested in doing this non-representationally. Not unlike J.M.W. Turner's "Slave Ship" paintings, I hope to encapsulate difficult issues within the context of dramatically used color, shape, form, and mark-making. When my work is at its best, it intertwines abstract imagery and narrative to inspire contemplation, fantasy, and empathy.
