Andrew Polk

Endo D Series

Impacted by his experiences with gastrointestinal endoscopy , Polk imagines the camera's path as a psychedelic spelunking through a winding gut.

Trochoidal forms created by the artist, but selected, placed and overlayed by a computer with Adobe Illustrator™. Parameter values are input, with which the computer creates the actual images almost instantaneously.

What is Gastrointestinal Endoscopy?

A procedure that allows a doctor to obtain images and information about the digestive tract. During the procedure, a small ultrasound device is installed on the tip of an endoscope. An endoscope is a small, lighted, flexible tube with a camera attached. By inserting the endoscope and camera into the upper or the lower digestive tract, the doctor is able to obtain high-quality ultrasound images of organs.
