4     CT = Computed Tomography

On the gurney, being wheeled through long corridors.

Automatic doors, turns, more corridors, cold. An elevator down to the lowest level. Colder. Shivering.

They give him a heated blanket. “Thank you. Thank you.”

Through large glass windows, he sees a room with a giant, metal donut and a long narrow table going through it.

Taken inside, he is strapped on the table. An IV sends fire through his veins and the table enters the donut. Loud clanking.

Then… back to the ER. More waiting.
